WHY PROMOTE MANGOS

Reasons abound for varying promotions to help increase sales.
in March, when sweet and ripe fruit from Mexico is accessible. Continue promoting into the offshore growing deals as different varieties become available.
4. CAPITALIZE ON UNPLANNED PURCHASES BY DISPLAYING THE FRUIT CREATIVELY.
Cross-merchandize next to spring items and stone fruit as we get closer to Easter. When displaying mangos, bigger and colorful displays in areas of greater foot traffic will yield better sales performance.

REVISITING MANGO CATEGORY PROMOTIONS A wider supply base, changing consumer preferences and an uptick in popularity have played a positive role in growing U.S. demand. Over the years, several key drivers have moti- vated consumers to purchase mangos and remain constant, including flavor and perceived health benefits (National Mango Board, A&U Study, 2017). To encourage even greater sales, give customers more of what they want when promoting the fruit.
1. PLAY UP FLAVOR BY:
• Always having ripe fruit on display. Hard, bitter mangos will not drive sales. Instead, focus on displaying soft, ripe and flavorful fruit.
• Using ripe fruit as a coaching tool to educate customers how to select a ripe mango. Remember, gauge ripe- ness by touch, not color.
• Promoting multiple varieties instead of one. Taste, texture and aroma vary from one variety to the next.
• Focusing on versatility and ease of use. Mangos pair well in a variety of easy dishes; they don’t have to be intimidating. Prep displays with recipes for mango salsa, a nutritious smoothie, or a fresh chicken or shrimp salad with fresh-cut mango.
