TOUR DE FRESH BRINGS 46 MORE
SALAD BARS TO U.S. SCHOOLS
Celebrating ve years of success, Tour de Fresh by the California Giant Foundation, Watsonville, CA, continues to support the Salad Bars to Schools initiative in a big way – this year, by bringing 46 salad bars to four school districts across the country. Nearly 50 cyclists came together in July to ride
300 miles from Lake Tahoe to the coast of California in an effort to bring more access to fresh fruits and vegetables in schools. The total monies raised of $147,000 will be donated to support at least 46 salad bars in four school districts across the country. “Everything we do stems from a deep passion
and commitment to providing a better future for kids,” said Cindy Jewell, vice president of marketing for California Giant Berry Farms. “Riders are responsible for personally fundraising $3,500 in addition to months and months of training that
go into the four-day ride, all so that one school can provide fresher options to its kids – the impact of that one salad bar means thousands of students’ health habits are changed.”
