Ocean Mist Farms has been growing artichokes since 1924 and continues to be the largest artichoke grower in North America. It’s the only grower that harvests artichokes year-round by selecting proprietary seed varieties for each of its four growing regions.
Winter Months
Artichokes become Frost Kissed® when temperatures drop below 32 degrees, which burns the outer layer of an arti- choke, causing it to flake and peel like a sunburn. “Frosting” is strictly a cosmetic condition. Once the artichoke is cooked, the peeling disappears, leaving a clean, green artichoke with a more intense, nutty flavor.
